Project VOLTA REDONDA "CITY OF MUSIC"


INTRODUCTION

"Until now, Volta Redonda has been known as "The City of Steel". When our city becomes known as "The City of Music", we will be creating the best steel in the world!"

The Project Volta Redonda "City of Music" is a project developed in Volta Redonda by its creator, Nicolau Martins de Oliveira , with students from Education Units of Municipal Secretary-Office and from Volta Redonda Educacional Foundation.

The Project Volta Redonda "City of Music" began in 1974 (although it did not have this name), and is supported by Volta Redonda City Hall.

The following shows some characteristics of the Project:

Participants:
  • 26 Schools of the Municipal Education Net;
  • 4,000 Students (6 to 8 years old) from Elementary, Junior High and Senior High Schools.
Primary Objectives:
  • Sensorial development of the child, working the motion co-ordination, the hearing, the vision, the phonation, the touch, the attention, the memory and the ratiocination.
  • Awaken an interest for music, with emphasis on sensibility and creativity, to help personal development;
  • Educate to provide a positive ethical influence through the use of music in the schools;
  • Develop Attendance, punctuality, discipline, responsibility, persistence, group interaction, and musical and scholastic performance.
