The Volta Redonda Children-Youth
Choir is part of the Project Volta Redonda "City
of Music", and its total benefits come
from systematic musical education in parallel with the
pedagogical background of the instructors, both in
harmony with social-educational development.
Its students study at Municipal Schools and, every year,
the Choir performs in commemorative festivities such as
the City Anniversary, Christmas Concert and other events
in the community and the neighborhood.
The Choir was invited to participate in the II
Hebraica Choirs Meeting - Rio (Jewish Cultural
Society) and in the Panorama of the Present
Brazilian Music series, promoted by UERJ (Rio
de Janeiro State University), where it had the
opportunity of singing, in the 1st audition,
a piece about 5 biblical versicles named "Mensagens
do Livro" (Messages from the Book) and also
the "Salmo 21" (Psalm 21), both by
Brazilian composer and director Ernani Aguiar.
The Choir received the attention of Brazilian composer
Villani Cortes who wrote, especially for the
group, the musical pieces "Fantasia - Escravos de
Jó" (Fantasy - Jo's Slaves) for
Choir and Band, and "Cantatinha de Natal"
(Christmas Little Cantata) for Choir and
String Orchestra.
